Bethesda, MD – Shine your light blue to commemorate Autism Awareness Day on Friday, April 2. Download color #10 on the Fight Lights color picker and taking action to raise awareness about autism in our communities. A percentage of proceeds will go to Autism Speaks for the entire month of April as Fight Lights encourages all fans to fight for autism awareness and shine a blue light wherever they are!
“Fight lights” is an iPhone application that allows you to enter your favorite teams’ names, select their uniform colors from a color picker provided then flash your team’s colors with special effects. Foam fingers are so 2009! Picture your stadium or your school’s stands filled with fans flashing the colors of your team. There are even special effect options on how you want your colors to shine.
Try flash, wave or swirl and even change the speed at which the colors alternate for a fun way to show your team pride. There is also a timer that allows users to start their “Fight lights” at the same time or at a specified time during the game. This is not just for Pro sports and college sports, Fight Lights can be used in any sporting event at any school or league. Fans of all ages enjoy this fun way to show team support!

Great idea, however, how do we know how successful this is and does it capitalize on raising much needed funds? Maybe next years awareness program could include registration through their customer service or call centers. Autism is such a broad and varied illness that it is impossible for the laymen to understand the complexities and issues that individuals and their families experience.

I wonder if this works on the iPad too, since it has a much bigger screen and bound to capture more attention than the small phone screen. I would love to use technology to support my teams this way!
