Toronto, Canada – Training solutions provider Infinite Skills Inc today released a new video series to help Mac users work productively with the latest edition of Excel for OS X. The Learning Microsoft Excel 2011 Tutorial, narrated by trainer Guy Vacarro, includes beginner-targeted lessons that show how to use Excel in common applications such as monitoring sales data, calculating profits versus losses, creating expense forms, managing contact lists and more.
“Studies have shown again and again that the best way to learn a new skill is through direct application,” said Colin Boyd, sales director at Infinite Skills. “That’s why this course has been created around hands-on, real-world examples. Viewers learn a full range of Excel functionality in a context that makes immediate sense.”
The Excel 2011 Tutorial begins with a quick explanation of Excel project structure and an explanation of how math functions are executed within the application. From this starting point, the training moves into its first sample project, a functional spreadsheet for recording sales data. Viewers learn basic entry and formulas, which form the basis of tutorials to follow.
The next project is a profits and loss sheet, demonstrating named ranges, 3D referencing and PDF export. As the tutorials move through sports scoring, expense claim forms, stock reports and more, tutor Vacarro covers techniques and features such as error checking, lookups, summary sheets, data filter, mail merge and more. These lessons introduce pivot tables, CSV export and SkyDrive publishing, too.
“Excel plays an important in practically every office and industry, across private, academic and government fields,” said Chris Johns, content specialist for Infinite Skills. “And these tutorials draw on several different types of examples to illustrate skills that can immediately be applied to real work.”
