I’m liking this podcast a lot – very useful to see what apps are out there… but Jerad, you’ve got to stop being so nice about crappy apps. The latest one, Speechcloud was a bit of a waste of space, and you said yourself that it didn’t work some times – but like all the rest you though it was a ‘cool’ application.
I think you need to start calling out applications where they don’t work… maybe giving them rating (say for price / functionality / useability etc) as this would prove a lot more useful to people out there looking for good apps.
Cheers, and good luck… Ash

Great podcast.
Can you review teleport vnc?

I would love to review teleport vnc but it is a $24.99 app and I just don’t have the extra funds at the moment to drop on that. I just bought 4 language apps to do a language app review week coming up soon.

I agree with Ash!! I keep watching and waiting to here the words dont waste your time with this app it sucks!! We all know that there are apps that are going to be made that suck and thats the best part of doing reviews is you get to call them out on it!! For example lolcats waste of time and space unless you are a cat lover!!
Keep up the great work!!

Ok fine, I will crack down on some of these app developers. I guess I have just had so much communication with developers that I have not wanted to discourage anyone. I do need to start getting on the case of some of these developers because some of these apps are a waste of time.

my iPhone isn’t my friend right now, or i should say Apple isn’t. during the “2.0.1 Dynasty” i survived, where many have fallen. but now, Enters a new age, the “2.0.2 Dynasty”….Smarter….Stronger.. Faster….etc. Now i have been slain, All my Apps, that i have purchased from the App Store, are “non-working Apps”, and all my songs have disappeared from the ipod section. i tried several restarts, reboots, and syncs, to no avail. That means Now a complete ((Restore)) as New, and miles of retyping, on the MiniPad.

I feel your pain Greg. I have restored my 3G iPhone 10 times now having to start from scratch also. Always having more then 60 apps on my iPhone at a time, 92 at the time of last freeze, my iPhone has its issues and often.

I feel your pain to some degree as well. I have iPhone (original) and had update issues. when an app had an update I would download via iTunes, and attempt to install on my iPhone (again, via iTunes) however, would always receive an error message. The only way to update was to delete the program from my iPhone, and reinstall, which was fine except for programs that contained data (like Budget). So I have now completely restored my iPhone to factory setting, and then re-synced it. we shall see if updates work properly very soon.

Jerad,
I’m about 2/3 through all your reviews and I want to thank you big time! I’ve created a list of over a dozen apps I want to try out, thanks to you. Two comments:
-it would be helpful to always know how well an app works over Wi-Fi versus Edge, or if it works over Edge at all. I won’t be getting a 3G phone til next Spring, when my current one is retired.
- RE: Pocketpedia. This was a godsend to me, though I sprung for the full web app. What it allowed me to do is to carry a database of over 32,000 song titles on my iPhone, and another of over 2K CDs. They reside in a FileMaker dbase and it was a cinch to migrate them to Pocketpedia. No more buying the same disc or song twice for me!
Take care, and keep up the good work.

Walter, Thank you for your comment. It is a bit hard to test both Wifi and edge networks as that would require switching between 3G, Wifi and Edge on the phone thus tripling the amount of time it takes to do one review. However I can get a basic idea just by using the app whether or not it should work well on slower networks. In that case I will mention the fact that my guess would be slowness on a Edge network. Otherwise I probably will not mention it.
Thanks!

Got a suggestion. I just watched measures, and the style of how you did that podcast is neat (as far as camera placement), but it might be beneficial try add a second camera, one showing you, the second showing the iPhone. And then do a screen in screen so we can see both at the same time. If you have the equipment to do that, it would be really neat.
